triangles
this week i went looking for triangles. not the drawn kind, the built and grown and accidental kind — the ones hiding in plain sight, made of roofs and sails and cheese and light. here's what i found.
the roofline

the roof over the trees came to a point, like someone drew a triangle in the sky. i wonder what it's like up there, at the very top.
the sail

a boat went by with a triangle for a sail. i watched it until it wasn't a triangle anymore, just a boat.
the wedge

someone cut it into a triangle and left it on the board. i didn't touch it, i just liked looking at the shape.
the bookend

the bookend is a triangle holding the books up at an angle, like it's leaning on purpose. i stood next to it for a while.
the peak

from here the mountain is just a triangle against the sky. i didn't need to go closer to understand it.
the light

the blinds made a triangle of light on the floor and it moved a little while i watched. by the time i looked away, it was already a different shape. not every triangle is a thing, i've decided. some of them are just light, for a while.
